In the late summer of Twenty Sixteen I was approached by the owner of Dante's Restaurants about working on custom graphics for their Hiway Pizza Pub locations. Hiway Pizza Pub describes itself as "The State College tradition since 1963, nobody does it like HiWay! Offering over 29 varieties of hand-spun pizzas and an endless combination of toppings we’ve got a pizza for everyone. Our vodka “flaky” crust pizza is simply a must have!" Outside of one or two original designs, they also wanted to purchase the rights to several of my pizza doodles to be used on their "uniform" shirts for their employees, and to use them on the walls of their latest location.
I took a pilgrimage to their latest location when it opened to check out these graphics myself. I was also excited to see the workers in the shirts, and also I just love pizza so it made sense to go.
Outside of the illustrations they bought the rights to, we have created several original illustrations over the years. The first illustration we made was for their "Cut Pie Express Lunch" lunch deal. This graphic is used on print outs, social media, and various ads in the area. Our latest illustration was the "Hiway Pizza Ninja" graphic. So far, it seems like they are using it when hiring and want people to apply. I love working with small pizza shops on making custom graphics, and it will always be cool to walk into a place and see everyone wearing your shirts.
