Rockfish Public House is and industrial-chic tavern offering local seafood & American fare, plus craft brews on tap & cocktails located in the heart of downtown York, PA. Rockfish is a longtime client of YRK Creative, and over my time with YRK I worked on various projects for them. One of the last projects I worked on was the design and layout of the new menu for Rockfish. With a new co-owner on board the decision was made to change the menu items, and the client wanted to change the layout and look of the menu at that time.
I took this opportunity of a new menu design to build upon the brand of the tavern, most notably finally giving them a set typeface to use. Along with a new typeface, we found a series of sea creature illustrations that could be used on not only the menu, but throughout the brand. A nice textured background adds a sense of depth the client wanted in the paper, but needed them printed on a thicker paper so they stood up to restaurant use.
To go along with this new menu design, the client also wanted a new kids menu to pair with it. The kids menu is much more simple compared to the full menu, and would be a simple print job so the kids can color in the illustrations. I re-illustrated a few of the sea creatures from the full menu, simplifying them a bit. I also added a fun little maze to the menu, mostly because that was always my favorite part to do as a kid.
Over my time with YRK Creative I also had the chance to produce several magazine spreads for Rockfish that were featured in our sister magazine, YRK Magazine.
I also would help produce social media posts for Rockfish from time to time. These typically highlighted holidays, black friday deals, and special events at the tavern.
